Meetings of the Astronomical Society of NSW

The Astronomical Society of New South Wales holds two meetings every month, at the Epping Creative Centre, on Friday evenings nearest Full Moon. One meeting, known as an Ordinary Meeting, will usually have a guest speaker who is a professional astronomer or other qualified specialist, discussing leading edge developments in astronomy. The other meeting, known as a Technical Meeting, usually has members making presentations of their own observations, telescope making, other related activities, discussing Society business etc. In memory of our founder, the talk at the Ordinary Meeting in October is presented as the "Gordon Patston Memorial Lecture".
 

Upcoming Meeting Schedule

Ordinary and Technical Meetings commence at 8:00pm, however special lectures for beginners are sometimes held in the hour before Technical meetings.

Guest Speakers

The ASNSW engages guest speakers from leading Australian and overseas Astronomical institutions to address our meetings. In these talks you will hear about their latest research on wide range of topics of astronomical interest. We also have talks from ASNSW members speaking on their latest projects or topics of interest to amateur observers.

If you have an interest in Astronomy or are thinking of joining the ASNSW, come along to one of our Ordinary and Technical Meetings to listen to our guest speakers. Visitors are welcome. Refreshments available after the meeting for a gold coin donation.

Where are ASNSW Meetings held?

ASNSW meetings are held at the Epping Creative Centre at 26 Stanley Road, Epping (map below). The Epping Creative Centre is situated in Dence Park, which is just off Epping Road and about 1km from Epping Station. The Epping Aquatic Centre is also located in Dence Park. Ample parking and good facilities are available for all meetings.
